Spelling Boogle

My belief is that learning needs to be FUN!

One of my sneaky "lets learn while having fun" activities for spelling is Spelling Boogle.  This is so easy to set up and a heap of fun!

Set up a 4x4 grid and write in the vowels (a, e, i, o, u) then any random letters to fill in the gaps.  To play the game you could work in pairs or one-to-one.  Set a time limit e.g. 3 minutes and encourage the children to spell out the word as they go.  Room 2 have loved this new addition to our language warm-ups.

Here's a snap-shot of our Spelling Boogle today...we also discussed blends and how you can change a few letters around to make a whole new word (refer to 'ate' examples on the board).
