A Day in the Life of Woodhill School

Education is evolving. This not only includes what we learn but specifically - how we learn. Education is  no longer a one cell classroom with one teacher. An integration of traditional teaching with 21st teaching is what is needed for our children's future and future children.

At Woodhill School our teaching and learning programmes are developed with this in mind. From growing thinking skills to growth mindsets our day is a mixture of collaborative and independent learning activities within a bicultural environment.

We hope you enjoy our day and learn something new.

Each day we start with karakia and waiata.
The junior school moves into phonics and handwriting, while our senior school complete their thinking skills based on Feuerstein.
We all complete the Daily Five maths before heading out to morning tea.
After morning tea we all begin the Daily Five Literacy programme. We choose the order in which we complete each activity and manage our learning while the teacher focuses on teaching groups.
At 12 we begin a specific writing programme before our lunch at 12.30.
After lunch we have a variety of things we do each week, from Art, swimming, caring for our environment, growing chickens and vegetables.
This is when Together we Care for our environment and get on with our environmental responsibilities.
