Calendar Art

Room 2 has done an amazing job creating this years master pieces for calendar art that have been inspired by the talented artist Don Binney.

We spent a while looking carefully at Don Binney's artworks and discussed the focal points (what the eye sees first), the use of layers and limited colour pallet.  Then we looked at the way Don Binney used black to create a textured effect in his landscape.

We spent a few days experimenting with layout, looking at foreground/background, textures we could create using different techniques e.g. cross thatching, stipple (dots), shading, etc.

We are all very proud of our finished artworks and hope that you enjoy them as much as Mrs Daly does!  (Have a look at the slide show below...or better yet, pop into Room 2 and have a look!).
